NHBC was established in 1936 and is a non-profit distributing company that works to raise standards in the new house-building industry and to provide consumer protection for homebuyers.
NHBC is an independent, standard setting body and the largest warranty and insurance provider in the UK. Warranties are issued on newly built and newly converted homes, social housing and self-build homes. NHBC’s cover comprises insolvency insurance and a 10 year structural warranty. NHBC also provides health and safety, training and environmental services to builders and works with Government to provide support and advice on policy development.
NHBC’s business model, which includes standards, risk assessment, inspection, warranties and feedback has been applied around the world to help raise standards and protection homeowners.
